295cc wont run
Hey im new to the forum and golf carts all together. I just rebuilt a 92 295cc ezgo. I put it all back together. But now it wont run. It has new plugs, wires, and coil, the plugs are firing so i know its not the coil, wires, or plugs. I marked the belt and put it back on like it came off, i feel i have a timing issue, or a carb issue. i cranked it over several times and the plugs are dry and dont smell like gas. is there a diagram for timing or is it just not getting fuel?

Re: 295cc wont run
If your valve timing is off, you may not get the downstroke to pull the gas to the cylinders. The timing marks are at the pulleys for the cam and the balancer shaft. You need to remove the cover and the bolt on the balancer shaft to see it. The balancer shaft has a key way. That should point straight up. There is a notch on the cam pulley. It should also point straight up. There is another mark on the cover backiplate to align it.
Go to the home page. Go to ezgo gas and click on "gas tech" it will take you to a jacobsen site that has the manuals...Good Luck, let us know how it goes. |

Re: 295cc wont run
Thanks alot. I got it running. I took the timing cover off and all was good. I cleaned the carb bowl out just to make sure. put it all back together and sprayed a little starter fluid in and it fired right up. so i dont know. It runs real good id say twice as fast. I put .25mm over sized pistons and rings in and really didnt think it would make that big of a differance but it screams. I got another question. The throttle seams eather shut or open, its wide open or of course off/not running. Any ideas.

Re: 295cc wont run
Look ar you throttle plate to see if it is closing when off the pedal.
If it is check the throttle plate/butterfly to see if it is still there. I'm leaning toward the throttle linkage is holding the throttle open. Make sure when the throttle closes, it rests on the throttle plate in the carb, then just barely screw the throttle stop screw up to it. |
