Has anyone tried by passing the governor completely? How can I make it idle like a go cart?

sounds like you already have bypassed it since you drilled out the hole. These engines were not really intended to idle and could overheat. I know there are kits available that change it to a key ignition and make it idle but I personally wouldnt do that.

They need to idle really slow or the drive clutch wants to engage. A heavier clutch spring is required for it to idle and not roll.
