Default No start??

So far I have found out that I believe I have a 1982 Gas Marathon and I haven't heard the thing run yet since I got it. It had been sitting for about three years and the gas was smelling kinda like varnish so I drained the tank and cleaned the carb and fuel pump. I'm getting gas up to the carb but I'm still not getting fuel to the spark plug. What could be some things to look for? It turns over, it just doesn't want to pop off.

You say you are getting gas to the carb, but is it going into the carb. The needle valve may be stuck and not letting gas into carb. Try a little starting fluid and see if it will pop then. If it doesnt you need to check for spark at the plug.

put your hand over the carb and rotate the engine to see if it sucks... yea it sounds funny, anyway, if it doesn't suck, it could be crank seal or something that's venting the crankcase. It needs to be sealed so it can draw fuel mix into the engine. i'd try to avoid using the starting fluid a bunch since it has no oil, it has the possibility to damage the engine if used to much.

I agree with ruredy here. I avoid using anything on two stroke except some mixed fuel to feed the carb. Without a petroleum base the bearings are running dry.

Mine was doing the same thing so I used a little starting fluid , and I mean very little, just to get it to pop but not run. I agree that its not the safest way but it was the quickest at the time. A clean empty spray bottle with a gas and oil mixture in it works good, I didnt have one.
