Power lag after 295/350 mod..
Hi guys, I gotta a new problem today and need some help. I recently did the 295 cyl. head on a 350 block and man what a difference that made. Outstanding torque and pulling power. The only problem is that i'm havin to choke it. It needs more fuel. Can anyone that has done the mod. let me know if I need to rejet or change exhaust or both. I can set the choke plate about a third closed and she's truckin. I want all this mod. can give me. I want to go k&n on the breather and do some exhaust change to. Any direction will be appreciated. If the symptoms are to vague, reply and I'll be more specific.. Thanks guys,,, in advance.

Re: Power lag after 295/350 mod..
He had a similar problem creep up shortly after I did mine. I tred a new fuel pump and everything. Finally about 2 cans of carb cleaner cleaning the inside passages of the carb did the trick and she's running like the wind

Re: Power lag after 295/350 mod..
Hey Bill, I have cleaned this carb. numerous times. The only piece I can get out is the throttle tube just under the main fuel jet. It's the one that sticks out inside the throat of the carburator feeding in fuel. I know it has several tiny passages on the outside of it , but I just can't get it out. Any ideas...?

All I had to do is take the bowl off and spary down each and every little passage.
Have you checked the basics like the pump and filter? Just thought of some thing,, Are you using the carb for the 295 or 350? |

Re: Power lag after 295/350 mod..
I'm usin the 350 carb.. If the carb is the prob, as far as trash is concerned, I can't find it. The carb has been submerged and soaked in cleaner and sprayed and cleaned extensively. I'm gonna clean again just to be sure.

Re: Power lag after 295/350 mod..
Had to bump this up for those who might use this info for their own mod.. Power lag fixed. I removed my carb to check main jet. The jet had an 90 printed on it. I used a torch tip cleaner to carefully ream out the jet in stages til' my prob. was corrected. I now have mucho low end torqued and power. This mod. is amazing. I have 22's and can peel out on grass. This is with a stock belt also... I suggest this mod. highly for those lookin to upgrade without puttin out for the big block!!
