Dimming headlights

Last night I noticed when I accelerate my headlights dim a little, I never noticed this before. Model Year: 2002 Make/Model: Electric TXT Freedom Golf Car. Thanks in advance. Pete

If the headlight circuit is simply across 2-6v batteries in the pack, those 2 batteries may be out of balance with the pack causing a voltage drop. A digital volt meter (DVM) is a sparky cart owner's best friend. No need to spend more than $25 on one either. Measure the at-rest voltage of each battery, as well as the on-load voltage (six times up the same driveway perhaps).

How do I trace where the headlight circuit is? I have a digital voltmeter and usually pretty good at this but Im not completely comfortable aroung this thing yet

Post a pic of your battery bay, maybe we can work backwards from there.....

That has the factor harness installed... Using your picture for reference, the battery at the bottom left has a small black wire coming from it into a loom that runs toward the back of the cart, this is your 12V ground (it's also the 42 volt ground for the pack as well).

The battery in the middle at the rear of the cart will have a green wire coming from the Positive terminal, this is your 12V positive.

If I was a betting man, i would lay odds that you (or someone you allowed to use the cart) use the light/accessories alot and the 2 batteries at the lower left of your picture are out of sync with the rest of the pack (they die off faster than the rest).

when you replace the battery pack, get a voltage reducer installed to power the accessories. That will uase all the batteries evenly instead of just the 2 it is currently using. Actually you can do it now and it will help some.....

Im a little clueless on this, what am I looking for, is there an amperage or voltage type one im looking for, I really appreciate your help, so I may need to replace some batteries? I also only see ones for 36 volt and 48 volt, this is a 42 volt system.
