Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
Got it...I think?!?
but again, my concern is that "sleeve" on the radio is conducting the 12V "ground"...like it does on a car, but the frame on a car is 12v too, so no shock when touching the sleeve and any other part of the car. My question is, when I plug the IPOD in, then I'm holding the iPod and touch a roll bar...I'll get shocked. That's what I'm trying to avoid? Surely others have Ipod's hooked through AUX imput on the radio right? |

Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
I have a radio in the dash and use the aux input. The difference is my sleeve is only in contact with plastic and it doesn't show at all in front.
I would box the sleeve and radio in a plastic marine radio holder and be done with it. |

Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
I use the same converter as ScottG. Its mounted in the factory location and runs the lights, inverter and other goodies. The radio runs off its own 12v in the well. I found the converter couldn't handle the radio at higher volumes. It also added static to the receiver as it was on the same power source as the drive system.

Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
I just installed this plug and play 48V 12V converter. Club Car part no.102553102. It just plugs right in to 12 pin connectors in wiring harness. TahoeDawgZ71 hooked me up on where to get it. It's very easy to install.

Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
Is that a 18 to 12v reducer?

Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
It comes in a kit. the Kit contains 48V-12V DC/DC converter, part no. 103700302, and DC/DC converter harness, part no. 102553102 and a blue fused input wire, part no. 102527601, that is not needed on a newer precedent built after Jan 2, 2008. It must be used on the older Precedents with 4-12V batteries.

Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
I have never seen a 48-12 that small! How many amps is it good for? I'm curious, because mine is huge compared to that one and only does 25-30 amps, I think.

Re: Most Popular Voltage Reducer
The amps aren't that big: 16 amp continuous and 20 intermitent. I will run radio and lights but it probably won't do huge electronics. It was an easy install plugged in. That's why I got it. Here is pic of actual reducer. Reducer is probably 8" x 3" x3"
