Regenerative Braking Stopped Working?

'96 DCS

Everyday... it's something new!

It used to be when I was moving too quickly forward down a steep hill, my cart would slow itself (not sure what speed it got to before slowing itself). I'm not EXACTLY sure when this stopped, but if I had to guess, I'd say right about the same time I dropped the PQ BANDIT in it. I was under the assumption that the controller was keeping the cart from reaching "unsafe" speeds, but was it in fact my motor? And did I lose this safety feature by upgrading to the BANDIT? I do still have a stock controller, by the way.

Yes, The Bandit rebuild does remove the regen braking.

Okay, good to know. And I was hoping this would be the golden ticket I was looking for to convince my wife that I need a performance controller right away. Darn!

With the aftermarket controllers you do not want to have any regen on the PQ motor.

Regen produces a lot of heat, heat makes motors come apart.

When you get your controller, not sure with most companies, but I know for a fact Scotty will go in there and program it to have ALL regen braking off and Turbo off. These motors do not like that!

Well do it when you can. It's not a priority. You do not HAVE to have it.
