One of life's lessons learned the costly way. When I took my controller out I wasn't even working on cabling, I was taking some measurements above the motor. The blade of the tape measurer fell and came in contact between the A2 & F2 terminals on the motor. I lost forward but still had reverse, now the posts on my motor have rubber boots over them. Like I say it hurts at first, but if you upgrade the pain goes away the first time you drive it.

DB, Do you remember where you got your rubber boots? That's a great idea and I would like to do the same before I have an accident like that. I already blew up two headlamps and a meter by mistake

I got them at our local West Marine store, they are national and do have a website if you don't have one nearby.
