Re: Convert 48 to 36 Volt - or not
IF you let your 48 volt cart get below 32 volts shame on you. You can charge three 8volt batteries together with a 24 volt charger. 8 volt batteries being a gimmick and so high sounds like you need a new battery guy. I pay $78 for us batterty 2200's and i pay 87 for the 8 volt us battery red top mid grade. Not trying to bust your balls just helping out. Also i see you have a back seat if you feel the 8 volt batteries are bad news run 8 six volt batteries you will get a longer run time and you wont have to worry about the 8 volts, and for the price you are paying for the difference it would be a wash. Hope this helps.

Re: Convert 48 to 36 Volt - or not
If your voltage drops below 32 and you cant get the charger on then hook you charger up get another cart and hook the jumper cables to both carts and trick the charger into coming on. I have done this several time for my buddies because they drink too much and leave their lights on.

Seriously, the 54.4V output from a 48V Save-a-Battery might be high for float charging a 48V battery pack, since Trojan's recommended float charge is 52.8V. In fact, in a hot & dry environment, even 52.8V might be a bit on the high side. (Give Trojan a call and find out for sure.) FWIW: If you added 5 diodes in series with the Save-a-Battery output, the voltage on the battery pack would be dropped by 3.0V to 51.4V. (0.6V per diode), which would also reduce the amount of gassing will on float charge. |
