Default Resistor

Will a cart work correctly with out a resistor or what will happen without it?

I'm guessing your talking about the resistor on your solenoid, if so yes it will run with out it, but you need it to stop fed-back, with out it you will have problems

The resistor is used to keep the capacitors in the controller constantly charged . Without the resistor, the contacts in the solenoid will burn, pit and eventually fail from arcing.

The diode is a flyback diode and is used to prevent high voltage arcing at the final switch in the interlock system.

Both are necessary.

The resistor is non-polarized, so it can be installed in either direction.
