Possible DCS controller issue
Hello all. I have a 1997 DCS 36volt cart that I just bought and I was told it had a problem that the guy could not figure out, and it had no batteries so I got it for next to nothing. Anyway, the solenoid does click but cart does not move. I'm now going off prints and diagnosis pages found here and this is what I found.
Working thru the steps to check the controller and ITS, I get to a step that says when probing the black wire (pin 2) I should see 14 to 16 volts. Here is where it gets weird. I see 14.4 volts for appx 4 seconds, then it drops very quickly to around 5 volts. If I turn off the tow/run switch for a minute and turn back on, the voltage is at 14.4 volts again but then drops off. Also, for those few seconds at 14.4 volts the wheels do spin, but only in reverse regardless if the f/r switch is in F or R. Sounds like the contol box is shot, but I'm looking for confirmation or other suggestions. Thanks much |

Re: Possible DCS controller issue
Yes it sounds like controller failure.

Re: Possible DCS controller issue
The good news is that with a decent aftermarket controller, a DCS is a nice cart.

Re: Possible DCS controller issue
Thanks, Any suggestions as to a good replacement part name or number? This is a bone stock cart with no plans for modifications. I'd like to keep the price as low as possible because I do need to drop a bunch of cash for new batteries also.
Thanks again |

Re: Possible DCS controller issue
I had some of the same issues with my 96 dcs... I got an alltrax controller from Scottyb on this site.. I must say my cart has never EVER ran better. It runs like a bat out of he!!... it does not eat batteries either. I can play 54 hole of golf and only use 3/4 of the charge on my batteries. I also live in WV.. so we have a lot of hills on the courses here... GO GET AN ALLTRAX... you will not regret it.... well worth the cash... I got mine in a pkg from Scottyb.. everything i need was there. I put it in myself. and was able to call scottyb and send pics to make sure i had installed it properly. he is great to deal with.. 5 stars from me...

Re: Possible DCS controller issue
Like subby44 says, scottyb has some good controller/solenoid packages
They are about halfway down page, after Series cart packages. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Custom_Options.html While on the website, read everything with the word "Battery" in it so you'll be ready when you get new batteries. |
