Default Hot electric motor

I have a 96 36 Volt ez go. After runing it for only five minutes or so the motor is very hot along with the cables. New batteries and the resistance checks out fine on the cables.. Ideas?

How about taking its temp so people can help determin if it's within specs or not.

Also a complete listing of upgrades and parts may help

Mine run 115 to 120. Which I believe is normal.

What about the cables being hot. It just seems being that hot is not normal. You can smell the cables they are so hot

The OEM 6g cables are designed to last the life of the OEM batteries that came with the cart. The cables are now 15 years old and in dire need of replacement. I recommend 4g welding cable with soldered copper lugs. One of our site sponsors (Carts Unlimited) sells killer sets at a fair price.

Ok sounds good thank you for the advice. Would the new cables help with the motor temps?

I did replace all the battery cables when I put in the new batteries. Do you feel the cables running to the motor have the same life also?

Yes, ALL of the cables that carry high current pack voltage need to be replaced once in a while.
