How to remove Motor
How do I go about removing the motor in my 36 volt 1993 model resister cart? I assume it has to do with the 3 small screws that go in from the front? I see nothing at the rear, even with the diff cover off.. I am going to try to work on getting it off now! Wish me luck!

Re: How to remove Motor
Nevermind, its off.. for future reference there are two 7/16 bolts that come in from the outside of the diff from the rear. These bolts loosen the motor. From there a little good vibrations from an air hammer and off it came.. Easy as pie.. I might just fix these lugs myself, are they soldered in or just square head bolts? Thanks again!

Re: How to remove Motor
Soldered to the field coil....unless your talking about the brush terminals in which case they are soldered to the brush lead. Its not as easy as it sounds. If you have the right tools its easy but a radio shack soldering iron isn't the right tool. I've seen people try....and it might work for a little while but its not the right way to do it. Doesn't cost much to let a pro at a motor shop do it right.

Re: How to remove Motor
The ones I am talking about are the ones that the wires connect to, on the outside of the motor.. All 4 are broken off just after the inside nut and have been just clamped on! I will try a local shop first.. Wonder if a starter/alternator shop can do this?

Re: How to remove Motor
Very good possibility. Have them clean it up a bit if they can. Thats where I went the last time I had one broken.

Re: How to remove Motor
They "should" be able to check it out a bit too. My starter/alternator shop puts mine in a growler to test for shorts etc on the armature....then cleans up the commutator and all the brush dust cleaned out. Total cost was $0. Not saying yours will be free, thats just what mine did for such a quick easy job.
