Crystal clear. I understand your reasoning now.

I currently have an Alltrax controller and like the FNR switch better than the one by the knee. I may be doing it just because too.

I think you stated in the OP that you have the DCX controller with a DCS activation circuit correct? If so then yes you could do this conversion. Mine will use the Club Car FNR switch the goes behind your right knee. Most of my other carts are gas or series so just out of force of habit, I reach down to shift.

That is true, but the PDS F/R switch has neat looking mounting panels made for it.

Well the previous owner installed a chrome panel with a digital meter in it so wanted to keep that and I wanted the switch by my leg because I'm getting too old to reach all the way over to the dash.

And as it turns out the Club Car switch with housing bolts right up to the same mounting holes that used to hold the CC series FNR switch that was there.. Score

I am getting around to doing the change. For some reason I am not following along.

The stock mechanical switches have 4 wires coming off.

1. Yellow which goes to the key switch ---]
2. Orange that goes to Pin 9 on the controller ---] Forward?

3. Orange that goes to tow run switch ---]
4. Orange that goes to Pin 4 on the controller ---] Reverse?

So I have 4 wires, but the F/N/R switch only has 3 connections on it, 1, 2b, 3

When REV is selected 1 and 2b have continuity
When FWD is selected 3 and 2b have continuity.

So I think on the F/N/R 2b is the key switch???

From there I am lost.... ugh

1. Yellow which goes to the key switch ---] 2b
3. Orange that goes to tow run switch ---] 2b

2. Orange that goes to Pin 9 on the controller ---] 3
(This tells controller to pass amps to motor)

4. Orange that goes to Pin 4 on the controller ---] 1
(This tells controller which way to send current through field windings 0V = F B+ = R)

With the wires connected as indicated above, the cart will run forward, but not backwards because the controller is not being told to pass amps to the motor when switch is in R position. A diode has to be added between terminals 1 & 3 on switch to get the B+ on 1 to be applied to the wire going to Pin-9 on controller.

The banded end of the diode will attach to terminal 3.

---------------
What isn't shown on the schematics is that the DCS F/R switch with the silver colored cam, mechanically closes one of the two switches in both F & R and the other switch only in R. (Basically, the same electro-mechanical arrangement as used for the microswitches on the series F/R switch assembly)

The earlier version of the DCS also used two switches, but only one was closed is each direction, like what happens with the PDS switch, so a diode had to be used.

This was one of the other reasons I was going to use the cc FNR switch. It is a DPDT center off switch. Put the run circuit on one set of legs and the reverse on the other.. Also got it in its own housing that will mount right over where the current FNR lever goes.. Just an option..

Nice idea. Would like to see pictures when you get it done.
