Project '86 EZGO John Deere
Hello all!! I'm a newbie who is going to be asking an inordinate amount of questions soon. I just picked up a decent looking, but completely shot motor-wise 86. I'm doing the whole shebang on the motor including milling the head, porting it, and the BV 24 carb. It's getting a 4" lift and better tires as well.
If I don't shot myself in frustration getting it going again I'm going give give it a John Deere paint job. We restore old 2 cylinder John Deere tractors, and this will be how we get the family around at shows and tractor pulls. I'm thinking it won't look too bad, maybe...... :) Anyway, I'll post some pcitures of my progress, er, struggles, for everybody else to laugh at. Thanks in advance for the help Travis |

Re: Project '86 EZGO John Deere
Here are some pictures after I got all of the oil washed off of everything. I could get it ro run by metering gas into the carb with a small fuel line, but between firing it would dump a lot of gas out on the floor! You can say that almost every seal and gasket on it was shot. She'll be better shortly though.

Re: Project '86 EZGO John Deere
You could switch the front beam to a newer style TXT and get your 4" lift,, with only a 1"block. I did it in my 83 and it was great! and you loose the low riding old style front axle

Re: Project '86 EZGO John Deere
These guys have gotten me from a hopeless wheeled heap in my yard to a point where I can run and enjoy my cart. And believe me this cart was badly neglected. Of course I have some issues right now but this site is great.
