The brakes are self adjusting, but are a little tricky to get them to self adjust.

Drive at a moderate speed, fully apply brakes and then release brake pedal while cart is still rolling.
(Self adjuster doesn't tighten unless cart is still rolling.)

Note: Only push on lower portion of brake pedal so parking brake does not engage.

Sounds like your brakes are really loose, so it may take several stop cycles to tighten them up.

If they don't start sliding the tires after two or three dozen brake adjusting stop cycles, the self adjusters need to be serviced or replace.

Also, could be worn out brake shoes.
Does the method work if your brakes are too tight and dragging? I can feel them when the cart is in neutral and I try to push it, it is not easy. I also lost 3 mph after the EZGO dealer did a brake job. My rear wheels are getting hot also from the drag. How can i fix this, dealer can’t pick up cart for a week.

No it does not work that way to stop them from dragging. You have to remove the wheel and there is a hole in the front of the brake drum that's how you adjust them if they are to tight, you can all so adjust them under the cart on the driver side.

Thanks for the reply, I did the under the cart method as you said. The place has it so tight there was no play. Once I loosened the spherical nut and readjusted the play I am back up to speed 18-19 mph. Thank you for your quick reply as this was bothering me and the shop was backed up.
