Re: 12v light wiring Q?
We all have our favorite ways of accomplishing a given task. My motorcycle battery is well into it's second year of service. I have had no issues thus far and get several hours of service from a full charge. For me, that is more than satisfactory and when coupled with the simplicities, a great fix for the problem.
I don't argue it as a better way. I do suggest it as another way and offer what I consider justifications. Nothing more. No argument intended. |

Re: 12v light wiring Q?
What's your load? I have a 50 watt stereo, 110 watt headlights, tail lights, dome light, 12 volt power outlet, horn, siren, wigwags, and neons.

Re: 12v light wiring Q?
I'm not pulling anything near that, Yurtle. The biggest draw I have is the horn I just installed. And it's only momentary.

Re: 12v light wiring Q?
I ran the numbers on all my lights, head, tail and LED pods, ( all the 1156 units are now LED). It looks like I might pull 1.5 amps with everything on. Hit the horn and it will momentarily add another amp.

Re: 12v light wiring Q?
With that low an amp draw, the motorcycle battery is seeing WAY less than what's required to start an internal combustion engine. The only difference is that a bike starts recharging it within seconds of the initial load.

Re: 12v light wiring Q?
Agreed. And Tyhuck's question was regarding lights. That's all I have and the small battery works well.
