My hub was splineless as well, but the axle seemed good. To save the axle, I bought some very small files and cleaned up the splines on the axle and bought a new hub. All is good now. Not sure if this will work for you. IMHO, I think that they make the hub out of a softer material than the axle, so it will fail before the hard-to-replace axle does.......

here are the bad parts- can anyone tell me what to order
I think I figured out why it wouldn't move
can you help me identify the parts I need?

It looks like the brakes locked up and the motor continued to spin and it took the splines off of the axle shaft it self and the the interior of the hub-

1 can anyone identify the hub I need to order? since this is a ezgo/bad boy?

2 can anyone identify the axle shaft I need to order?

3 I think we should put brakes on both sides of the cart, not just the drivers side- do you agree or disagree?

thanks guys-
I still think its funny that he thinks I know a lot about these carts

IMHO, I think your axle looks good from what I can tell with those photos. Maybe the thing to do is to order the hubs ($43 from golfcartking.com for a TXT) and see if you can fit them. If so, just go with it. Just my opinion.......

I am missing about 1 1/2 inches of spline
the other side has a very distinct shoulder
I am thinking
one drum
one axle
both sides break shoes

OIC. In that case, I would replace the axle shaft. Mine did not have any of the splines on the axle shat missing. Only the slplines on the hub were worn smooth.....

WELL I don't think you are missing 1-1/2" of spline, but you are missing a fair amount. here is the best picture of the hub side I have, but you can see there is a shoulder and a bit more splined shaft then the one in your picture.

Its hard to tell from the picture if the axle is actually worn badly or not. If the part just outboard of the end of the slines are SUPPOSED to have splines, then this axle shaft is defenetley bad and needs replacing. BUT, if the end of the splines are supposed to be there, then this axle looks OK to me.

You will also have to examine your brake hubs. If the splines inside of the hole that this axle shaft fits into are worn (examine it after removing the brake drum from the axle), and I am betting that they are(its a weak link in the ezgo carts) then it will definetley need replacing. You will have to repeat the procedure for the other side. Its not as hard as it seems, tho. Hope this helps.....

On my left wheel I took off the hub to inspect the splines and they look perfectly fine to me and so does the axle but that wheel srill does not spin. Could there be a problem at the other end of the axle?
