Default RXV brake not releasing

Well, my brand-new RXV was delivered Monday, and it seems really nice. Didn't have much chance to play with it, as the batteries needed charged and it was getting late anyway. Other projects got in the way on Tuesday, and it was raining today. The rain gave me a chance to read the manual, however, and one intriguing thing is the parking brake.

I'm pretty sure I understand how the thing works, but there's a problem with the tow/run switch not releasing the brake. According to the manual, you put the key switch in the "N" position, flip the Tow/Run switch to "Tow" and the brake should release. When I follow that procedure, I hear a distinctive "Click", but you can't push the cart. Flipping the T/R switch back to "Run", and I hear a "Click" again, but still no joy on pushing the thing.

It seems to work OK when driving; you can hear the Click when starting out and again a short time after stopping. And, the brake definitely does release.

What gives?

RXVs have been quirky from the git-go.

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...oblem-iii.html

When our 2012s replaced out totally-crapped out 2008s, they came with new quirkiness.

When you use the key, but have a foot on a pedal, it does not register.

When you turn the key to R or F, there is a slight delay, and if you push a pedal too soon, it will not go.

As for getting Tow mode to work here's how:

Turn the key off.
Lift seat and flip switch from Run to Tow.
Turn the key to N.

Don't do any of it too fast. One thousand one. One thousand two.

Get to know your delaer or E Z Go tech well, or expect to be googling every now and then. Ours visits every 2 weeks.

That did it, thanks!

Now, how do you release the brake if there's no power at all, say a cart with no batteries?

FWIW: my dealer is my cousin, but his location is about 250 miles from me. As far as actual technical knowledge, I'm way ahead of him, but of course he knows the carts better than I.

What is the procedure for disconnecting/connecting the batteries? I wanted to make some measurements, so disconnected a jumper, and got a heckuva spark upon re-connection. IIRC, I had the switch in "Tow" position.

Would it be advisable to install a switch to disconnect the DC converter?

TIA:
