All Sports mesh cargo basket review
I bought an All Sports rear cargo basket with mesh sides and bottom. Here's my review and installed pictures.
It's not perfect and requires slight modification to mount. The upright seat back mount had the forward holes slightly off so a bit of filing fixed that. Also on the basket itself, they covered the forward mount holes with the mesh screen bottom and no bolt would go through the hole. I just drilled through the mesh with the existing hole as a guide for the drill bit. Cost was ~$225 shipped so it's the best bargain for a cargo basket I've found. The powder coat finish is nice. Looks great, I'll upgrade to something like that once I finish the electrical and suspension

Re: All Sports mesh cargo basket review
Not to be "Mr. Negative", but on the downside, I can tell you from personal experience that it's going to be tough to get a dead deer weighing more than 130-lbs from the ground into that basket by yourself. Now, I know that I have a disability that somewhat lessen's my strength, but still…to lift dead weight of a still "slippery" and moving deer into that basket will be……interesting.
My personal set up is a rear cheepie winch, a piano hinge, and a small deer catcher. This is removable for the non-hunting season, but when a deer is taken, I simply drag in onto the catcher (which is lowered completely to the ground) then hook the winch to the back of said catcher, and crank it up until the deer is secured to the back of the cart with the catcher. No lifting involved. FWIW Dave |

Re: All Sports mesh cargo basket review
If I wanted to deer hunt I certainly wouldn't try to get a dead deer up into the cargo basket. I would use that for gear and cooler for cold drinks.
For hauling a deer back I installed a trailer hitch so a removable hauler can be attached like this: |

Re: All Sports mesh cargo basket review
Yeah…I have a Clay's basket on the front for my "stuff." Not as big as the one you have on the back, but I don't carry enough stuff to fill it up.
Your hauler is what I use….except with modifications. Because of the hilly terrain here in SW Pa., that much fixed extension on the back would bottom out way too much. So, that's why I stated I have a hauler very much like yours and have it attached to the rear via a piano wire hinge. Then it's folded flat against the rear of the cart, and when needed, I just release it to the ground, then using the rear winch, winch the hauler with the deer on it, up to the cart…..and drive home. Same principle…..different terrain's. Dave |
