Default Roof Shakes Like Crazy

I know this is going to be one of those really dumb questions, but I'm curious if anyone has a fix/reinforcement for a really shaky roof. I just installed an overhead stereo and I noticed that the roof shakes like crazy now. Everything's as tight as can be, but I wondered if anyone out there had figured out a way to strengthen the supports. I can't see those welds lasting forever being shaken like that.

Thanks!

What is causing the shakiness? Is it an electric cart?

What welds? The roof supports are one piece.

The front support is one piece. The rear support(s) are two piece. I can only believe that the screws and bushings on your roof are either loose, or have been "worked" out of spec by over tightening???

It doesn't take much to over tighten and crush those plastic bushings in the roof. Ask me how I know.

The rear supports where they connect to the body. Those plates are welded to the supports

Maybe if you take your cart to a welder and have him weld some supports at the corners? Is the cart an electric cart?

The rear roof supports attach to the bracket the hold the seat back in place and different seat-back brackets are used for one seat and two seat carts and possibly other bracket styles for other cart configurations.

It might be a good idea to post picture of the bracket you have so everybody is on same page.

-------
I routinely travel across bumpy fields and the roof made annoying sounds and when on relatively smooth roads, the rear view mirror still vibrated so much it was nearly useless.

I have a single seat cart and the seat-back support bracket is fairly robust and there was no perceptible movement, but it simply didn't feel solid even though the mounting hardware felt tight when I tried to tighten it with wrenches.

Basically, the nuts and bolts had been exposed to the weather for years and the threads were seized. A little penetrating oil and adding some flat washers reduced the mirror vibration to useable levels, but the roof still made sounds when the cart went over the bigger bumps.

I added flat washers to the spacers DaveTM spoke of and I added a strip of foam rubber weather strip to the channels the roof supports fit in. Voila, no more grunts and groans from the roof.
