G1 stereo draining battery after sitting...
Do I have to install a power switch for the stereo when I don't use the cart for a while? after it sits the battery is fully dead after sitting a couple weeks. is the memory wire killing the battery?
Thanks, Bryan |

This should not drain your battery. Unsure of your stereo wires but yellow goes to battery power. red to keyed power. black to battery ground. Hope this helps.

I don't have the stereo going to the key at all... should it be? I run all alpine stuff on my carts.

Re: G1 stereo draining battery after sitting...
That's probably your issue. Deck yellow and amp red to positive battery. Deck and amps blacks to battery ground. Deck red to keyed power source that only has power when key is on. Then blue or blue with white stripe from deck goes to remote turn on for amps. Can't remember if alpines are blue or blue with white stripe for remote turn on don't use power antenna lead if there is both or noamp unless on radio.

What color wire do I tap into on the key? My amp has a switch on the dash. Do I hook the yellow or red. To the key?

There is no keyed power wire on a G1. Best option is to install an accessory "kill" switch.

Something like below works well because it also provides protection against shorts and you don't have to worry about blowing and carrying extra fuses. Pressing the button acts as a kill switch, and when you want to turn it on you just flip the bar to turn it on. You would install it on the + as close to the battery as possible.

My bad I didn't know there was no keyed power on g1. So yes if you have a switch for amp hook the red from deck to that also but leave the yellow to the battery for memory.
