one more issue.. Oil in pulse line.
I fixed the gas in oil issue... thanks for the help! Now, it seems that I am getting a bit too much oil blowing up into the pulse line, it chokes after running over 3500 rpm for a short time. I did change the oil and put in the proper amount of 38 oz. I am concerned that when running it with gas in the oil I may have damaged the rings and am getting too much blow by... if that is the problem, I would still like to run it until I do a rebuild. (no slack or dips in the pulse line currently)
is there an issue with just tapping another hole into the valve cover and connecting the pulse line to that? Sealing off the crankcase port that was the original pulse location. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks, Scott |

Make sure the pulse line doesn't sag below the level of the port on the block. If it loops down it will fill with oil and the oil won't drain back into the crankcase.

Thanks! I don't have any droop in the pulse line, this is a new issue that just started showing up. Not sure why it started.... yet. I just ordered a vacuum fitting that I'll install on the rocker cover and will post how it works. fingers crossed.

I haven't run into that issue and I've had a few carts burn some oil because of worn rings.
What size hose did you use for the pulse line? Have you checked the breather hose for obstruction? (rocker cover to carb inlet) Checked the port in the rocker cover for obstruction? Checked the pulse port on the block for obstruction? Are you sure the pulse line is filling with oil? Are the filters empty of fuel when it does this? It would stop pumping fuel and the filters and float bowl would run dry if that's happening. If the filters are still full of fuel then its a carb issue. Stuck float or clogged fuel inlet maybe. |

Fuel filters go empty, but refill when I slow down. It would stop pumping fuel and the filters and float bowl would run dry if that's happening. If the filters are still full of fuel then its a carb issue. Stuck float or clogged fuel inlet maybe. Cleaned carb and checked float needle, it appears to be working correctly. No smoke out exhaust either. I pulled the pulse hose off when it was running and it sprays oil all over. Maybe I didn’t drain all oil out when I changed it after the gas in oil issue .... but I had marked the dip stick for the proper level. Cart is lifted but I did drop the front of the engine. I’ll change the oil again making sure it is ALL out, do a careful refill and see what happens. I appreciate the feedback! Scott |

Just hoping to narrow it down to something simpler than bad rings! I'd change the oil again and just make sure it isn't overfilled. You usually want to change the oil a second time after having the crankcase full of gas anyway.
I have one cart with a lift and I always just jack up the back of the cart to change the oil so the motor is definitely tipped toward the drain plug. I dunno how much oil could stay in the engine if you just pulled the plug with it sitting level. Seems like the pulse port should be high enough up on the block that shouldn't be a problem even if it's slightly overfilled, but that's the only other thing I can think of.
