early 2000s 36v series TXT conversion to 48v AC system
I recently bought an early 2000s 36v series TXT that doesn't run. It is missing the data plate, so I don't know the exact year. I am upgrading to a 48v AC system with 4k Navitas motor, 440A TAC2 controller, MZJ400 solenoid, 12V LiFePo4 lithium batteries, and a new TXT 48v wiring harness. I can't figure out if I will need to replace the old lever FNR switch with a modern electric FNR, and if I do, how do I tie the new switch into the system?

If you are swapping over to a 48txt harness it uses a dpst switch for forward and reverse. You can get one used for a pds cart that goes in the dash or get the one the 48txt uses that mounts to center of the body just below the seat.

Re: early 2000s 36v series TXT conversion to 48v AC system
kgsc, thanks for the reply. It seems like a simple enough conversion. I was researching this part for hours and could only find folks doing FNR switch conversions still using a series system. It seems like by the end of this I will essentially have a PDS system.
Do you know if I need to also buy wiring to connect the DPST switch, or does the 48V wiring harness just plug directly into it? |

Not sure with the harness you ordered but the early 48txt carts have the switch on the dash. After 14 they moved it to under the seat and those 2 pieces are under $20. Parts 17 and 18

Kgsc, I believe it’s a spdt switch isn’t it?

Thanks for the info. I ordered those pieces! Now I just gotta hope that I get it all installed and wired up properly.
This is my first cart so this is all a big learning curve still |

There is a YouTube video about using a TXT48 wire harness. He explains what you don’t need and what can be stripped out. If you don’t currently have a run/tow switch, you will also need a SPST switch for that, they give you the bracket. You can also extend those wires and put it on the dash if you choose. You will likely need some crimp spade connectors for connection to the ITS wires. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3VRKJiZxu0&t=101s
