Default Pds speed question

Have a 2002 36v pds. Has an alltrax xct400 controller and a plum quick bandit motor 6" lift w/23" tires. Driving down the road in front of my house I topped out at 21 mph. As of right this minute the cart does have a few cables that need to be Bumped up in size. A1/A2 cables on motor are still factory and solenoid to controller is also still stock and the solenoid itself is NOT 400A (can't remember how many amps it is) but I remember it being well below 400. Could the smaller cables in combination with the smaller solenoid be limiting my top speed?? Not looking to go 30+ but was thinking with the motor/controller/tires that I should be able to hit at least 25ish

Undersized cables aren’t doing you any good. Are they holding you back from hitting 25, probably not. You may have to take a look at the current settings in the Alltrax, might be something you can tweek to improve. Another option is add another battery to make 42 volts and get a new charger.

My last build was a 2002 36v PDS cart that i upgraded to 48v with a Alltrax controller set up by Scottyb. It is scary fast with 10in wheels.

Am planning on switching to 48v sometime after the new year but am going towards the end of the week to get a full new set of cables for batteries, solenoid and motor and will be picking up a new bigger solenoid at the same time was just wondering if I would see any difference after doing that.

depending on which new motor you are getting could make a difference.....

bumping to 48v will really make the difference. once you get your new motor, check your speed....whatever that is.....when you jump to 48v will get you 33% more speed and torque.

This is pretty interesting, in other posts ScottyB doesn't recommend 48 volts on a PDS, says it's too violent.

In my experience the PDS motor over reacts to 48v, starts are close to violent and motor life is greatly reduced. It will handle 42v (7/6v batteries) but again with a somewhat shorter life.
Good results with an Admiral B4 motor though on 48v. This long stack high torque motor really gets up and goes with plenty of power from the advertised 14 hp.
We make a TXT48 conversion kit for any TXT (series included) using the Admiral motors that significantly transforms the old Ezgo driving experience.

The stock motor on the pds cart will work at 48 volts but their lifetime will be shortened. My 36v with 23” tires would run mid 20s no problem so run yours and check the cables to see if any are warm. If so they should be replaced.
