I use a cheap one from HF for 6 and 12s. For the 8s you can use the same just ignore the chart and look at the voltage. I would say if it drops more than 1.5v it’s bad.

I use a golf cart. Always available. Nothing to buy. Better than carbon pile testers.

I also use a harbor freight tester... sometimes it a lot more convienient especially when testing batteries for things like backup power and the battery bank for solar.

Handheld load testers typically pull 50-100 amps. Expensive promodels can pull the 250-300 amps needed to test golf cart batteries. Few people can afford or need such a device. A simple meter connected to the pack or to a single battery in the pack will give the readings needed.
Pro tip > Monitor during hard starts uphill.
