Default Carb cleaning directions?/ help starting??

Hello,
Just seeing if im heading in the right direction. Have a 04 cc precedent gas. New to me last year and ran fine with no problems. This year it will not start most of the time without the choke but will run perfect after starting. But if it sits any amount of time you have to choke it agian to start. After reading and searching came up with carbs. Fuel filters are new but are not filling all the way either, is this right?? So if its the carbs any write ups or directions to clean for this?? DId not find anything on my search, a link would be great if i missed it. Or any other sugestions would be great. Thanks chris

Your fuel filters won't be full all the way up when sitting, it's normal that they are about 1/2 full or so I would say.

As for cleaning the carb just pull it off the cart and start cleaning!! I would start with the bowl (on the bottome of the carb) and pull that of and make sure that the bowl itself is clean and also dissassemble and clean the float assembly. From there I would pull the jets out and make sure they are clean as well.

Check all the hose hook up points and make sure they are free of debris or varnish as well since you have the hoses unhooked.

Thanks for the help, is there a gasket between the carb and the intake i need to worry about. I know on my jet skis there is a paper gasket that needs replacing every carb clean, but nothing on my sleds. Thanks!

there is a paper gasket but if you are carefull you can clean it without hurting it. As far as your jets go just make sure they clean take a small peace of wire and run through them. then put it back together and make sure it works . 1 question is it new gas or a year old gas if so put a can of 104 octane in it should help

Super, #2 is idle speed screw
#4 is what we call emulsifier jet it sucks air and
bubbles it with fuel for low speeds, it is very small
and you will think its clean, use a set of torch tip
cleaners or pluck a bristle from a wire brush to clean it.

Well finally got up to my car. Drained and cleaned fuel tank. Changed both fuel filters and cleaned the carbs. The carbs were filthy inside and out. Got it all together and it fires right up when pushing the pedal without hitting the choke even after sitting the night. Only question I have is my fuel screw is more like a thumb screw and only goes about a half turn and cannot be removed. The tab on the screw hits the tabs on the carbs. Where should this be set at. I just have it in the middle?

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...uretorjh8.jpg/ my fuel screw looks like this one with the tab on it. Not the one in the first post image. You cannot remove it as far as I can tell and very little adjustment.

most likely it is just a plasitic cap over the acutal screw head, if you pop it off with a screwdriver and make your adjustment then pop it back on when your done , the cap on its for emission's so most people can't turn up the go go juice because we will never figure out to pop that cap off and start turning it with a pair of pliers.
