battery light?
97/99 CC DS 48 volt electric
Not alarmed, but curious. I noticed lately that when I first turn on my DS, the battery light comes on and then off again. It seems that it occurs after I have had the batteries disconnected and then connected again. That seems to be the only time I have noticed the battery light coming on. I just replaced my voltage reducer and had the batteries disconnected, and noticed the battery light come on after I had everything connected again. Like I said, I am not yet alarmed because it goes off and I don't seem to be having any operation problems. It did not happen today, so I am guessing that it only does it after I replace the battery cables on the posts. Is this light related to the OBC? If so, do I need to reset the OBC? |

Re: battery light?
I noticed today, that the light came on again when I took the cart out this morning. It was only on for a couple seconds, but this is something new.

Re: battery light?
Was the charge cycle interrupted the last time you charged the vehicle or did you let it finish until the charger turned off? That could be the problem. It may also be trying to tell you that your batteries aren't holding up like they should be. A defective OBC can cause the light to randomly turn on for no apparent reason as well.

Re: battery light?
The battery warning light will come on for 10 seconds the first time the cart is driven following an OBC reset.
The OBC is reset by disconnecting the battery power for over 5 minutes. Just noticed on your second post it happened without the battery pack being disconnected... as TahoeDawgZ71 mentioned, that would indicate a charge cycle warning. Re: battery light?
Mine does this as well. Now when I leave the lease the charger is connected and left in the tow position. Not sure what it means.

Re: battery light?
The batteries are less than a year old and I maintain them regularly. The charger stays connected until it shuts itself off with a full charge.
I am wondering about the OBC because I installed a new 48 to 12 volt reducer last week. Everything seems to be working fine. The old 16 volt to 12 volt reducer was connected to the controller and is now disconnected and removed. Like I said before, the light only came on for a couple seconds at most. I do wonder if I need to reset the OBC. I did remove the dash to connect the reducer to the key switch, and the battery light is also connected to the key switch, so........... |

Re: battery light?
Some general comments that may not apply to your case:
1) The 48v-12v converter negative power must come from Controller B- side of the OBC. This is necessary for the OBC to take the current used by the converter in account when recharging the batteries. 2) The 48v-12v converter positive power must come directly from pack positive. If Your converter has a trigger wire (low current), that can be connected to the key switch. If not, You need to use a relay if you want to turn the converter on/off using the key switch. 3) Anytime the batteries are disconnected for more than 10 minutes, the OBC is reset. There is no need to turn levers or press the pedal. If You attempt to power a converter from the key switch, there may be a temporary drop in voltage when the key switch is turned on due to the converter capacitors charging and the small gauge wire feeding the key switch. The OBC may detect that as a low voltage condition and blink the warning light. |

Re: battery light?
So if you didn't use the factory installed convertor that ties into the controller would it make that big of a difference? I have removed the light and installed a guage...
