Adding a 7th 8 volt battery

Has anyone ever added a 7th 8 volt battery to the Club Car Precedent EXCEL System yet ?

just wondering if I could add a 7th battery in the bag well under the rear seat kit, and wire it in series with the wire coming from the computer to the Negative terminal on the battery and from the positive on the battery to the motor terminal !

I know you can run 48 volts on the 36 volt systems and gain lots of speed, but, what about the EXCEL DRIVE SYSTEM ?

You can't run 48 volts on a 36 volt system. You would need a controller that can handle 48 volts. You can run 48 volts on a 36 volt motor with no problem. To add a 7 th battery to a 48 volt system, you would need a controller that can handle 56 volts, and a way to charge 56 volt pack,

For getting speeds up to base speed of the motor ( designed speed which is achieved when armature voltage and field voltage are at their full rated values ), the armature voltage is varied from zero up to full rated voltage. For getting speed above the base speed, the armature voltage is kept constant and field is gradually reduced. This is represented in the sketch below.

Don't do it. There are lots of series controllers out there than can handle a wide range of voltage but with SepEx cars such as the IQ and Excel, they want 48 volts, and ONLY 48 volts. If you want to build something wild that will run on a higher voltage we can build you a package. I've built 72 Volt Precedents before that would lift the nose in the air when you hit the pedal. Anything is possible if your pockets are deep enough, but don't do it with the factory controller. You'll let the smoke out of it and you won't be able to put it back in.

Wouldn't that depend on the color of the controller? I have a gray controller so doesn't it have gray smoke?

That is why I wanted YOUR opinion in it.........

Nut, as I stated, I wanted to add this battery AFTER the controller, between the controller and the motor..............

After talking to Ric, it will work, but, the controller will still limit the speed
There is nothing to make it run any faster with the stock controller, since it senses Armeture winding counts......That is why the Hi Speed magnets do not work on them..........It senses the amount of winding changes while it is turning and when the preset amount is reached, it will turn down the heat so to speak
