1996 Club Car DS Wire Size

Got a question for someone who would know this. I’m working on a 1996 Club Car DS the black wire running from the OBC to the controller is broken and (I’m not talking about the main negative battery cable). I’m would like to know what gauge of wire this is so I can splice this back together. I’m needing to buy a piece of wire and some butt connecters.

The way I found this was because the charger wouldn’t come on so I started looking for a cause. Would this keep the charger from coming on?

The big wire is probably 10g. but, I wonder how this could have been working before if you are missing a section of wire? It could be your cart has an aftermarket charger and an OBC bypass going on - unless you had some kind of accident?

Post a pic of the charger?

Scottb somebody spliced this wire together about 3" from the controller at some time. Why I don't know but that is where it broke.

Will get a black piece of #10 wire and some butt connectors and put this back.

Would this keep the charger from coming on? Cart isn't mine it belongs to a friend.

It will keep the OBC from functioning and the OBC did control the OEM charger.

Scottyb the charger is a Powerdrive with this on the front.The charger isn't with me at the present time..

The unit you show makes the charger a stand alone operation = no OBC needed.

Well I can't tell you if it is even wired up right now.

I'll get some wire and some butt connectors and repair the wire.

If that doesn't do it I'll look in the charger.
