Default Re: Charger or Battery Issue IDK

Had a battery pack ( measured 36.5v)
But wouldn't charge, cart not move
Used a jumped charger, still no amps
Measured each batt, one was 3.5 volts
Bypassed that batt, pack measured 33 volts
cart moved, charger worked & put out 20 amps

One bad battery can screw up the whole works

It seems like every battery has juice. I meant that my batteries are like 6 months old max maybe newer. I do feel like my charger always stays humming and never turns off. I'm gonna take apart the charger. But I'm thinking it's the OBC

Unplugged the red and blue wire from charger relay and plugged the golf cart into the charger the volt meter moved. Could it be my solenoid? I do have a PQ motor with factory solenoid.

I'm surprised that some of our experienced battery experts haven't chimed in on this thread.

the volt meter moved.
I assume that you mean the amp meter on the charger.
Going back to your original post, you said that you only get about a mile out of the cart after charge and the cart goes dead.

I'm out with the kids and family get about a mile from the house and cart dies.
I assume this happens after the battery pack has been charged?

Prior to that the cart always stays on the charger.
Does the charger ever kick off?
You really need to know what the pack voltage is after charging But more important, you need to know what the individual voltage of each battery is after full charge and a 12 hr rest period.
This will or could help pinpoint your problem. I'm still thinking that you probably have a bad battery in your pack.

A bad battery can still have juice. A multimeter will tell you how much.

I feel like the charger never turns off. I'll charge it again tonight and take a pic of the volt meter.

When I removed the two wire from the charger relay and Hooked them up to a volt meter and then plugged the cart in to the charger the volt meter moved. The charger was not plugged in and the amp meter on the charger did not move.

I would not keep charging it until you uncover the issue. You could be over charging new batteries.

For a few bucks, you can purchase a cheap analog multimeter. Get one, take readings on each battery. If you have one bad battery, it could cause overcharging of your good batteries.

I'm not familiar with a 97 DS. Does the cart have 6 8V batteries? Just thinking, you say that your battery pack is only possibly 5 months old?
Has this problem existed for those 5 months?
Did you replace these batteries?
Are you sure they are wired correctly?
From what I've read, it is possible to easily wire a pack where the one battery is left out.
Just asking.....

I have a analog multimeter.

Yes wired correctly, yes I purchased them, yes 6x8v. This issue just started. But I've noticed for a while that the charger was not turning off but I thought it was normal until my buddy bought same cart/charger and he said his charger turns off.

I feel like after I installed 2ga wires and the stud contraption thru the OBC is when it started.
