Default Almost no gear oil

New to me 94 G8, runs at governed speed, was stored indoors, ran ethanol free fuel. Started doing some poking around, decided to drain/refill the gearbox, almost no gear oil came out. Like half a cup. Should I be worried? Flushed some new gear oil through, put in 800cc's as the manual denotes.

Have many more questions, but this will do it for now.

What did the oil that came out look like? You'll probably be OK...

There should have been around 1 quart. You might want to find where it all went ?

The gear oil that did come out was dark amber, the color of used motor oil, not black, no metal that I could detect. As far as where it went, who knows, literally have owned the thing a few days so it was like this when I got it. Its not leaking from the drain plug, will keep and eye on it. The dang breather plug was a pain to reinstall as the rubber was very stiff. Ended up putting it in boiling water to give it some pliancy, went in once it was hot.

If you don't see any signs of leakage, it may have just been under filled. As long as it wasn't run at high speeds for long periods of time it should be ok, since you didn't see any metal. What was the air temp when you drained? If it was cold, sometimes that gear oil just takes forever to drain all the way.
