Installing new steering gear
On my 96 TXT, I installed the rack & pinion gears. The kit came with a "Retainer". My old one has a snap ring, not this new part. Do they expect this to replace the snap ring? I thought it was a tool to install the new bearing.

Re: Installing new steering gear
The manual shows it sitting on top of the bearing. But it doesn't fit on my 97 TXT either. I wondered if they made a change somewhere along the line and its used on different years maybe. Id be interested to see if anyone knows.

Looks like the is nobody that knows about this. Maybe I found the blind spot in the collective knowledge base.
