Default Found out what was wrong with my lights....

I had sent my golf cart in for new batteries and problems with my lights. My golf cart mechanic called today and said that he found a mouse nest up behind the dash and they'd chewed the insulation off the wires and shorted them out.
We live out in the country and always have mice problems. Before my husband runs the Deere mower, he has to check under the hood, and many times finds a nest.
I've had nests in my tiller and in my pick up.

We don't have any cats or dogs running loose, which would help.
We had mice terrible in our shed and deck boxes and I found the suggestion of keeping real perfume-y dryer sheets in there helps alot.
So I was thinking of putting them around in my Shelter Logic shed, where I keep the cart. I also read in another thread that peppermint oil works well..........but dang, all that stuff will stink whenever I'm riding the cart. I just don't like those strong smells.

I was thinking of getting a fake snake and a fake owl and keeping them in the shed.
I don't want to use moth balls. They are just too toxic.
Those danged mice.......they get into everything. I've always been surprised when I routinely check my cart batteries that I haven't found any nests in there.
I sure hope they don't just do the same thing again.
I'm off to buy a fake snake and owl, and peppermint oil and dryer sheets. Maybe I can find a recording of a big dog barking or a cat meowing and play it in there 24/7.

Anyone ever tried this? It sounds like it might smell better than peppermint oil.

Our killing them would be constant and never-ending, as its so open to the outside and we're in the middle of the woods/farmland. I'd like to make the area as uninhabitable to them if possible.
