I think I will look at going with the 6 - 8 volts. I just need to get another charger and solenoid.
you can use your 36v charger and do the other two with a regular charger. i did this for about a year, and think gorno did the same thing. then you can get one of scotty's chargers, or try the sams model. i think the scotty one may be better.

Keep your eyes peeled on Craig's List. I stole my 48V Lestronic II for $100. It has a few dings but works like a champ.

So your saying I can use the 36v charger and a 12v charger to charge them up? How does that work out? I don't think I can charge 4.5 batteries with the 36v and 1.5 with the 12v... (BTW I'm not trying to be a smart aleck. Just trying to figure it out with my pea sized brain.)

I was also considering the Onboard Solutions Protech 48v charger. I like the idea of putting in on the cart and leaving it there. Especially when we go camping. Any pros or cons to that?

you're right. i was thinking of 8 batts. you will need a 48v charger. scotty is a dealer for the protech charger. can't think of any cons.

On-board chargers are subjected to a lot of high voltage spikes during the cart operation. Unless they are built to handle this, it can be devastating over time. Some chargers like the protech have water and heat issues when mounted on board also. All in all I think it is better to leave the charger at home when you go for a ride.

Yeah, I thought that would be the case. I couldn't come up with a viable way to handle it that way..

I have reconsidered the wisdom of subjecting any charger to the harsh environment on board including having to absorb spikes in voltage.

Scotty, what do you reccomend for charging when one goes from six 6v batts to six 8v batts for the 48 V conversion on your standard 36v TXT?
