Re: new motor is getting hot
High performance motors are gonna run hotter than OEM motors. If you can keep your hand on it, it's not too hot.

Ride a few days, then torque down all those battery cables again.
Enjoy! |

Re: new motor is getting hot
Just to dig deeper into Cart-Zilla's question: How hot is too hot?
I know with my experience in RC cars that at about 200* you start to loose performance and run the risk of damaging the motor. How about with our cart motors? |

Re: new motor is getting hot
Basically the same. I was told that 200 deg. was the most that a cart motor should be run because of the risk of damaging the insulation.

Re: new motor is getting hot
I'd just keep an eye on it. as G said, it will run hotter than the stock motor did but if it gets to the point that you can't hold your hand on it, I'd call Robby.

Re: new motor is getting hot
The only issue I have with "if you can't hold your hand on it" is that everyone has a difference in pain tolerance. For me, my fingers can't take more than about 130* for 2 - 3 seconds. I know for others it might be different. That's why a handheld digital temp gauge is a good idea. It's the only way to know the exact temp.
