You can get a 36/48 volt solenoid and motor. I believe the controller is voltage specific. Check the sponsor sites to see what they offer.

You can also buy a programmable controller that will work on either voltage. Once you make the switch from 36 to 48 volt you would only have to change the under voltage/over voltage setting with your laptop. Some solenoids will also work on either with just a resistor change when you up your voltage. That's what I did to mine. I put all parts that would work on either and then just made a few minor changes when I added 2 more batteries.
