Help with 12v to 8v conversion wiring

Yes that's the resistor. It goes on the solenoid from post to post. Polarity is not important. Sounds like your pigtail wire is hooked up properly. Your yellow and red wires are fine as long as they're not touching anything else.

The wires are touching but are protected the rubber and plastic near or covering the terminal ends.

Have you ever used the light portion of the old harness to hook the lights back up? They were supposed to include a new one in the kit, but failed to do so. They are shipping it. I am pretty impatient and didn't see why i couldn't separate the old harness and use the 12 pin and wires I already had. It looks like I may have to tie in maybe 2 or 3 wires which run back to the controller and the 9 pin connector.

I sure do appreciate your help on all of this.

If your wires are touching anything you need to readjust them. Just because they've got heatshrink on them doesn't mean it won't rub through. And no I've never attempted to separate the old harness and remove the lighting portion from it. It's too easy to just get the proper bucket harness and use that. Please be patient. It'll be worth it.

About the only way to keep the large wires from touching is to switch the wires to the opposite posts. This would mean the Yellow would go on the + post. I understand your previous post to mean this doesn't matter. Is this correct? If so, that's what I will do as they fit much better that way.

That's correct. It doesn't matter. That positive refers to the small posts

Ok... got everything hooked up with the exception of the light harness. Checking it out to see if it will work. Good news is it will go. Bad news is no reverse buzzer. What would cause this?

make sure it's hooked up properly. If it worked before, it should work now. The controller controls the buzzer. There's a positive and a negative on the buzzer. It must be hooked up right for it to work.

I found the buzzer, but have no voltage going to it. I thought all was good when I moved the cart, but it will only go in reverse. In forward, I cannot hear the solenoid kick in. Any suggestions? After reading the instructions 50 times, I felt like I had everything hooked up correctly. The only thing I can find not hook up according to the instructions were the large wires on the solenoid. I switched them in order to keep the wires from rubbing.

Your S1 and S2 posts of the motor are probably reversed. Make sure they match up to the motor.... S1 to F1 and S2 to F2.... Blue and Orange wires FYI...... Also, check the connections on the F&R switch. Orange in the middle, blue and brown on outer posts.. Blue towards drivers side of car. That's why your buzzer isn't working. Your car is actually in forward and the F&R switch is hooked up wrong, not allowing you to select reverse. The reason you're running backwards in "Forward position" is because your motor wires are reversed. That's my guess... Please confirm.
