no f&r
I have a ezgo model TXTPDS serial 2446122 and sticker on side says its has precision drive. the other day i noticed it was shutting on and off with a clicking sound while traveling forward. after i stopped and tried to travel again there was no movement. no reverse alarm or nothing. i have checked battery voltage and its around 37 1/2 volts. ign switch checks ok and forward and reverse switch checks out ok. i replaced solenoid today with no luck. any ideas. i am thinking the controller is bad. also tried to put in run position with key off and toggled from neutral to reverse 5 times as instructions say to get beep codes but never got any sounds.

Re: no f&r
Welcome to BGW!
According to the serial #, that is a 2006 TXT PDS. Sounds like the controller isn't turned on. Here is a schematic, and you can download the Owner, service and Parts manuals from this post found in the Stikies one level up from here. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...g-manuals.html They are the three.pdf files. With Run/Tow in RUN, Keyswitch ON and F/R in F, check for B+ (Battery pack voltage) at the following: J1 Pins 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9 (Note: Pin-2 will have B+ instead of Pin-3, if F/R is in R) J3 Pins 1,2,3 and 4 J4 Pin-1 If you have B+ on all those pins, lift rear wheels off ground (place on jackstands) and press throttle pedal. You should then have B+ on J3 Pin-2 and J1 PIN-7 should drop to Zero volts. If you don't have B+ on all those pins, you've got a bad switch or connection on whatever switch it goes to. Let us know what you find. |

Re: no f&r
Look in front of your controller box for a red/white wire connecting to a red wire coming from the back of charger recepticle, put car in tow..disconnect that wire and connect a jumper from the wire coming from cart side(not the one from the recepticle) to your main battery pack positive...put in run and try again...

Re: no f&r
Just removed red wire as suggested and bypassed straight from battery pos to controller end of wire. still no movement no solenoid noise and no reverse alarm. thanks

Re: no f&r
Is there anyway to test the controller without swapping it out. i ask this because that is the only timei get the reading of f&r at same time when switch is plugged in.

2. J4 Pins 1 &2 are the pedal microswitch. Both should have voltage when pedal is pushed. I goofed, Pin-2 is the one that has B+ when pedal isn't pushed. 3. That is what activates solenoid. But all the other voltages have to be right for that to happen. 4. Good 5. That is the ITS (Inductive Throttle System). It can be checked with voltage readings, but the solenoid has to be activating before it matters if it is working or not and good or bad, it will not cause the symptoms you have. |

Re: no f&r
Do you think the problem could be in controller since the f&r switch and harness all the way to the plug at th controller reads good with a meter

A PDS controller is basically a 6 input AND Gate with on of the inputs fed by an OR Gate (F/R input) When all 6 inputs are TRUE, the solenoid is activated. Technically, it is more complicated than that because it does a lot more than just activate the solenoid, but for troubleshooting the solenoid activation circuit, that is the simplest way of doing it. Try pushing cart by hand while Run/Tow is in Run, or let it roll down a hill a few feet. The beeper should sound. If the beeper doesn't sound and it did work before, I'm pretty sure the controller is bad. |
