Re: ez go pds speed sensor
Nope.
If you disconnect the speed sensor on a stock controller, the cart will go into "limp home" mode and will only go 3 or 4 MPH. Happy trails! |

Re: ez go pds speed sensor
If you have the "Speed Chip" in then you should have no regen braking....

It is true that the Freedom Mode does not have Regen Barking that kicks in one second after you lift you foot off the throttle and limits the motor to about 1850RPM, however the PDS controller still limits the max speed and turns on the Regen braking if you exceed the top speed for the mode you are in. In Freedom mode with stock height tires you'll get about 18-19Mph (about 4400RPM)on level ground and about 20-21MPH (about 5000RPM) going down the steepest hill. The only way around it is to replace the stock PDS controller with an aftermarket controller that does not sense motor RPM. Then you'll get about 24MPH with stock tires on level ground, and heaven only knows how fast going downhill. |

Re: ez go pds speed sensor
Running slow (walking speeds) generate more heat in PDS carts than running at top speed.
Going up long and/or steep hill will generate heat in motor and controller, and maybe the cables and connections. So will going downhill if the Regen braking kicks in. Other than that, it depends on the terrain and your driving habits and you'll have to play it by ear. Feel the motor, controller and cables after a hard workout. They'll get warm, but shouldn't get hot. |
