Default ezgo no power

While installing a new body on my 2000 ezgo the 2 cables from the charging port touched and burnt some wires, now I have no power at all, I have a battery meter installed and it's not even coming on. My lights work but that's all. Where should I start on fixing my problem thanks.

Welcome to BGW!

Now you know why electric carts are called "Sparkies".

The lights probably run off a 12V tap on the battery pack and the bad battery or cable is further down the series loop.

Check the fuses, there may be one in the high current circuit to the controller
and there might be one in the white wire from the charge receptacle.

Connect the negative test lead of your DVM to the battery pack's main negative terminal and start moving the postive test lead to the positive posts on the batteries in the series chain. (see attached drawing)

When the voltage stops getting higher in about 6V steps, the problem is betwen the last place it did and the first place it didn't.

It is likely you burnt the reed switch out in the charge port. This provides + power to the ignition circuit. If that is what happened there is no need to replace it, just pull 36v+ from the main battery terminal and you will be okay.
Below is a pic of the reed switch in my cart.
