Default Re: How many ft of cable for 6 x 8v?

I just made a set of 2ga for my precedent. I purchased 30' of cable and had a good bit left over. I will measure when I get home and tell you how much it took. I got mine for about $1.20 per foot. I crimped mine with large commercial type crimpers. I got three crimps per lug and then applied shrink wrap. I did find that the 2 ga wire would go in 4ga lugs. It was a very tight fit and I had to try several lugs to get ones they would fit in. I used these because I felt like the large crimpers with the tight fitting lugs would make for a better connection. I did not use tinned copper lugs since I did not know they were preferred when I made my cables. I keep the terminals sprayed so I hope I do not have any corrosion issues.
Does your cart have an OBC?

I used 17 ft of 2 gauge when I did the 6 8v conversion on the Precedent.

I ordered 20' of cable, 24 lugs, heat shrink and a crimper. This was plenty to convert a 04 precedent as per the stickies. I spent just over $100 dollars and supplies were shipped to my door. weldingsupply.com has a good price on the 2awg cable and also has a nice color assortment so you can keep colors the same as factory. I do think scottyb cables are better quality than what i built but i like the fact that i built my own and they are alot better than stock.
