Default Well, crap. HELP! (DC converter wiring)

I riveted my DC-DC converter in place without realizing the wiring info was on the bottom. Anyone with the same one tell me which side goes to the batteries?

Thx!!

The wire colors in the picture looks to be red, yellow and two black ones, so I don't dare venture a guess.

If one of the two black looking wires is some color other than black, it might be +12V out.

Red (+) and Black (-) are usually pack voltage in.
Yellow is remote on/off (Ties to switched pack voltage at keyswitch)

Negative pack voltage in and negative 12V are common.

What is the make/model of the converter, there might be wiring instructions on-line.

-------
Knothead might be right also. it depends on the make/model of the unit. There is no standard wiring scheme for them.

eflyguy, I have one of those in the box, I didn't us it in my build. I looked at the bottom, the RED/BLACK is the INPUT voltage/ground for the converter. the YELLOW/BLACK is the OUTPUT voltage/ground.

With mine, the input wires are smaller than the output wires. Mine has a common - for both 48 and 12 volts. It has a + in and a + out and a remote wire, that turns the unit on and off.

Thanks everyone. I was able to verify what Sir Nuke posted by using the image to match other sellers, eventually leading to the Chinese distributor thru Alibaba.. :D

Sorry, I should have expanded on my "short & sweet" answer.....I have two of those exact reducers, so was sure of my answer. I used a relay to turn the reducer(s) on & off when needed.....they don't have a switching circuit built into them. Since going to 48v, I left them hooked up to only 6 of my batts, but am going to do a "sacrificial" test with one of them to see if they'll handle 48v & still output only 12v. If so, I'll hook them both to 48v.....if the test smokes the reducer, I'll leave the one hooked to 36v. I'm actually only using one right now, because the LED lights don't draw anywhere close to the 10 amp rating of one reducer.

This is actually the 48V version but works fine on 42V - I checked the specs before ordering. Hooked it up with red input, yellow output. I get 12.2V out.

I also bought a 40-60V relay so it only gets power from the battery when the key is "on".

I only have the LED lights hooked up right now, but have a couple of HID projector setups to install, just need to work out how to mount them in a way that's adjustable.

I'm pleased with how I've done the wiring up behind the dash. Once everything is complete, I'll posts pics and a schematic if anyone's interested.
