Default Frozen batteries = bad day

Just went out side and uncovered my 2008 precedent and had no power. I lifted the seat only to find 2 of the batteries apparently froze and the cases cracked what a bummer. The upside is I guess I get to do the 12v to 8v conversion sooner then I expected. What does everyone do with their cart batteries during the winter ? I plugged the charger in once a week, maybe I should have brought them in the house. Hopefully nothing else got wrecked when these batts froze.

I just bought the cart last summer so I'm not really sure how the batteries have been maintained.

I agree, at 100% SOC batteries can take a temperature down to -20F until they freeze. How cold did it get where you're at?
I also lost one battery to a freeze this winter...

Everything on winter storage and charging was covered HERE and HERE. For those of us in cold climates, we've tried something new this year - but because I've always kept my old Club Car Charger plugged in year 'round (with its self re-start when low feature) - I've avoided loss due to freezing.

it only gets a few degrees below zero around here from time to time. i think the batts were just poorly maintained and junk when i got the cart. i got the cart VERY cheap so its not that big of a deal. thanks for the link joesam i will deff maintain the new batteries.
