Default Headlights burn instantly out but Taillights are fine???

Help!! I just picked up a 2001 CC DS last night. The headlights were working fine when I got it. After a 15 mile trailer ride home I went to take it for a cruise and both headlights burnt out instantly. I put 2 new bulbs in and they both burn out instantly again. The taillights are ok though. I've installed a couple headlight kits on 2 other CC DS of mine so i've checked the obvious. Any other ideas to try would be greatly appreciated.

. . . only two things come to mind that would burn out both headlights instantly . . . too much voltage or a short . . . you say you checked the "obvious", so I guess you already traced down all applicable wires from battery pack via switch to lights?

What voltage are you getting to the wire at the lights.

Possible that headlights are finding a ground path to frame, and tail lights are not. And main light wiring - is not on main pack -? I assume you are NOT using the frame as a ground, thats a no-no for electric carts.

Maybe the taillights are LED's and can stand a higher voltage.

Have you found the problem?

sounds like your ride home (bumpy ?) caused a short in the headlight wiring
i would recheck wires from headlights to switch
my guess is the headlight ground rubbed on frame giving you 30v to headlights
