You would put the extra 2 batteries in the bag well. Before you do that maybe upgrade controller, solenoid and f&r now with 48v components. That way you are ready to add batteries if you want but would still require a new charger also.

With the new components you would then be ready for a motor upgrade if you want more speed then your larger tires would give you. Call D&D and talk to Eric or Vic. They have tons experience specifying and building custom motors. Experts. They won't over-motor either and sell you a motor draw that too many amps so you won't overheat motor or kill your batteries in 24 months.

Fair enough. The taller tires are coming , so we'll start there. If we need/want more speed, we will look at the best option from there.

Keep in mind, you will lose torque with taller tires. That is, your take off speed will be reduced and your hill climbing ability will be reduced. Your rolling speed should increase a little, depending upon the tire diameter.

Loss of torque by adding a faster motor, taller tires, or faster gears can be made up by a higher amperage controller.

One batt can easily fit under the seat. The second can go under the seat with a LOT of mods, or in the bagwell.

I wouldn't recommend all three at the same time though. If you installed a high speed motor, larger tires and high speed gears all together you would pull so many amps from the motor all the time risking overheating motor and greatly reduced battery life.

Agreed. I have 48 volt 500 amps with stock tires and gears. I ran my stock motor for a while and it was fast, bur ran hotter than I liked at 500 amps. I should have said and/or, not and.

You can go to 42V (7 x 6V) fairly easily, but just a 16.7% gain in speed and torque instead of the 33.3% gain you get by going to 48V.

"I have fairly new batteries. Can I add two more new batteries to the 6 I have, or do I need to swap all of them out?"

I think we missed part of his question.
I imagine it depends on how old his batteries are now.
Should he add new batteries to what he has
or try to find some batteries about the same age or 'maturity'?
Usually you don't recommend mixing new batteries and old.
