Default Controller pedal issues!!! I need help!:crybaby:

Hello everyone...Just joined the site! I just purchased a 96 EZGO 6 passenger "limo" that someone had tried to repair and gave up on her. We were in the market for a 4 seater, but my wife found this on craigslist and I inherited a new project. The seller had recently installed a new controller and things just didn't turn out right. When you step on the pedal it goes full speed until you press it to the floor and then it slows down. The seller determined that it wasn't the correct controller (some of the numbers were off). He gave me the original controller, which is a Curtis 1205-112. Is there an easy fix for this....can I swap some wires on the pedal? Should I just have the original controller rebuilt or look for a used one (new are around $800, yikes!)? It didn't come with a charger, but does have new batteries. It uses the crows foot socket. Are the 5amp inverter chargers any good? They are a lot less expensive that an original charger. Anyway, this is my first ever cart and I have big plans for it....I have 7 grandkids! I appreciate any suggestions.

sounds like he wired the speed pot wrong, I wouldnt stress it , check the stickys for wiring diagrams. You might have to re solder and switch connections around on the pot.

What kind and model of controller is in it now? You may just need to reprogram it for the throttle type you have.

That's a good question....I'll have to check and see or maybe ask the seller. The cart is shoehorned into a cargo trailer right now, in hiding until the grandkids are gone! I'm just trying to formulate a game plan to hopefully reveal a driving cart by the weekend.

Looks like this one right ? http://www.fsip.biz/Documents/1204_05.pdf

If it does, Read this man. Youll have it figured out in no time. I had a cart that did that, and the guy had the wiper going electricly the wrong way. he must have knocked a few wires loose and put them back on wrong, but that was that case. It may be the same thing or maybe not.

Yes it is like the old one, I'll have took check on what's in there now...either way that manual is awesome and will surely help me learn more about this issue. Thanks!!

Any opinion on the 5amp inverter chargers for $100, do the do the job?

A 96 Ezgo didn't have a pot (potentiometer with 0-5 or 5-0K signal)it has the ITS (inductive throttle system) which uses a voltage signal. So, you need to identify the control you have. But sounds like it is a pot signal device and that will not work in the Ezgo.

Like somebody said, some Alltrax control can be programmed for pot or voltage signals.

Also your GC batteries need much more than 5a to bulk recharge... stay away from those.
