Default Tires.....help needed

Looking to purchase some tires for my g22. I bought a set of 12" fair way alloys and want to run 22x11x12, but having trouble finding some. I have heard that 23" tire really robs performance.

Using a 23" vs a 22" shouldn't be much different power wise, provided that you are comparing the same tire. There are tires that rob more power than others, however, and it has to do with rotating mass and total weight of the tires and rims. For example, an aluminum rim will be lighter than a steel rim by several pounds in most cases. A two ply tire will be far lighter than a four ply tire. You have to define your goals and get the best tire that will work best for the majority of it's use.

I plan to go with 25" tires on a gas yamaha.

Not a stock motor though.

Make sure you can fit 23s, then I would not worry about running them. You are talking such a small change, my 22s measure 23 when I air them up. If you do have issues you can do more things to your clutches to make up for it or go bigblock. Larger tire is more speed and less power, but 22/23 is not really a significant difference. I'd not diminish what Plowman says, just that from a power perspective it should not matter that much unless there is a larger difference than 1". That is possible since these tires are made whatever size they feel like at that company and are only roughly that size. Make sure Plowman is not talking about a fitment issue. It will hurt hill climbing a little more, and I doubt there is much difference in performance or capability from 22 to 23....though I like larger tires myself and will make up the power in other ways. On my G9 this 22 is at the limit of what fits, I would have to move my swingarm and bumper mounts to fit larger.

I ordered a set of fairway alloy sixers and 23" all trails. I hear there is some clearance issues in the rear but I can fix that. Got a buddy that I finally got ahold of (buddy from campground) he's running 23" on whis g16 also.
