Club Car Transporter won't stay running
Ok, so I got a second hand 2005 Club Car Transporter that sort of runs. First of all, there was no key, but I am able to make another key I have work. Anyway, first off I have a few questions. Does anyone know if this is the standard Club Car gas meaning do I just put the key in and turn it to on and push the gas and the engine auto starts, or does it have to be cranked up? It think it has to be started, mostly because the key has an off, on, and start position. Anyway, when I turn it to start if very weakly and feebly turns over and that's it. But when I constantly hold the key in the start position it cranks and runs and I can drive it, but I have to give it gas too while holding the key in the start position. So I got this thing at a government auction and couldn't pass it up because of the price. You can see where it looks like they have replaced what looks like a fuel pump with one that's a little different. The problem is that there's not much info out there for the Transporter and I'm not sure if the drive train is the exact same as the others. I researched it and everything says it has either a 350 or 351cc Kawasaki engine. Is that the same as the regular club cars? Anyone know if standard 2005 gas club car parts will work? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Re: Club Car Transporter won't stay running
Ok, I just checked and it has a FE350D-BS10 engine.

Re: Club Car Transporter won't stay running
Welcome to BGW clgodwin!79!
Your the 4th "key start" cart that has posted in a little more then a week! And YES... if your key switch has off/on/start positions, it is a key start cart, and not the more common "pedal start" cart! The only difference between the two is a different key switch, a relay in the electrical component box, some wiring, and maybe an ACR (Automatic Compression Relief valve) in the engine. Otherwise, they're pretty much identical carts! First... check the battery condition... either try to start it with a charger connected, or replace it! (common symptom for slow/hard starting) 2nd... if you have to give it gas while keeping the key in the start position to get it to start, I'd suggest giving the carb a really good cleaning for starters! If you have to hold the key to the start position to keep it running... while driving it, Here's a thread that I replied to that shows how to test the relay, (it may or not help your symptoms), but it at least gives you an idea of the relay: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...press-gas.html |

Re: Club Car Transporter won't stay running
Ok, I'll check it out. Thanks. I had already read that thread before I posted, but I wasn't convinced that I had the same issue. It's almost like I'm only getting either fuel or spark while the key is in the start position. Fuel doesn't make sense based on it being carbureted, that's why I was leaning more toward spark. So, if the problem ends up being like the one in the post you linked the fix is to just replace the relay? Thanks again for the reply.

So you have to keep the key in the start position while driving?
If so... then yes, test the relay, and if 1 of the 2 tests fail, replace it! |

Re: Club Car Transporter won't stay running
No problem Lockman1, it's just my job. Ok, so I just got and installed my $42 relay and guess what. Either it's bad, or it wasn't the problem. But I have a few questions and pictures. What is this part in my picture? When I press the gas pedal, it rotates around and the limit switch piece releases and that's when the cart dies. It does feed directly into the relay itself. I put a zip tie around it and now I can press my gas pedal and it will not die, but it's like the engine holds itself at too high of an idle and makes it hard to shift from neutral, forward, reverse. I'm not sure if this switch itself is bad or if it's a bad relay and I'm just overriding the bad portion of the relay by making the zip tie hold the switch in the shut (turned on or depressed) position. Anyway, any help or insight would be appreciated since I don't have a manual for this thing.20141103_150655.jpg

Re: Club Car Transporter won't stay running
Ok, I think I have it figured out. It's a 3 way position micro-switch. It's used in line with the throttle pedal and FWD/REV/NEU switch. Apparently it's used on electric, gas throttle start, and key start models. I'm leaning toward this being my issue, and it's cheap enough that I'm going to order one and see if it fixes my issue, then I'll post back and let you know if it worked. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Limit-Switch...13ab34&vxp=mtr

Re: Club Car Transporter won't stay running
Does anyone have a picture or schematic showing the wiring from this micro switch to the relay? Thanks again.
