you need the ground from the controller NOT frame or neg of a reducer
this is how i would wire it

Go to an rv shop and get a tail light converter and wire it in it does everything you need the converter is for hooking American trailer to import vehicles

The 4 diodes only cost 25 cents and he already has them...

Yep, except the Tecscan Controller has a single wire for the brake lights (not one per side), but it is electrically equivalent
